Manchester-born Midfielder who was one of nine youngsters to turn professional at the Alex during the summer of 2006. Carrington was part of the Alex Under-18 squad, which reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2004 and was a consistent goal scorer for the youth team during his scholarship.

Mark spent three months on loan with Conference North outfit Leigh RMI in 2006 to gain some first team experience.Although he operated in a holding midfield role for the non-leaguers, Carrington tends to operate in a more attacking midfield role or on either side of midfield.

Mark made the break through to first-team level in the 2006/2007 season and certainly did not look out of place. He made his debut in the 3-0 defeat at Port Vale and later appeared as a sub against Oldham and Notts Forest. He was so unlucky not to score at the City Ground on the final day of the 2006/07 season in the dying minutes, shooting straight at the Tall Trees keeper Paul Smith after a fine break from midfield.
