A goal scoring midfield player who was singed on a professional contract with the club on his 17^th birthday after coming through the Academy ranks at the club, before forcing his way into the first team.

Born in Chester, Roberts is a combative, all action midfield player who also has a keen eye for a goal. Roberts has been regularly capped at International level with the England Under-17 and Under-18 squads.

Roberts was a key player in the successful FA Youth Cup team over the past couple of years and was handed his first team squad debut as a substitute against Derby County in 2003 to become one of the youngest players to represent the club. Gary also continued his International career as he won caps for England Under-19's.

Roberts has established himself as first choice player in the Alex midfield, playing in excess of 100 appearances, many of which occurred in the Coca-Cola Championship. Scoring 11 league goals.

Great things were expected of Roberts, but he has seemingly lost his way over the last 12 months and has mutually been placed on the transfer list as he looks for a fresh challenge.
