The Football Club asked for fans of Crewe Alexandra to come out and support us in our final home game of the season and to their enourmous credit they did just that. A gate of 6,786 was the biggest of the season, even surpassing the visits of Leeds, Nottingham Forest and local neighbours Port Vale.

That is why everyone at Crewe is so disappointed and frustrated by the way we performed. A gift of a first goal set us on our way to our worst performance of the season and it is difficult to put our fingers on it. Maybe the occasion got to our players, perhaps Oldham are one of the outstanding teams in League One?

Whatever the reason, our fans stayed with the players and tried to lift them. There was a large number who remained behind to applaud the players for their efforts during the season rather than Saturday's performance. We would just like to say thanks...

We know it has been a disappointing season.
